Abido 7 Mixed Spices is the classic Lebanese seven-spice blend (sabaa baharat): allspice, black pepper, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg and mahlab, ground together into the warm, sweet-peppery seasoning that sits in every Lebanese kitchen. Abido Spices has been Lebanon's best-known spice house since 1950 - still family-run, grinding and blending at its own ISO 22000-certified factory in Naameh, just south of Beirut.
Use it wherever a recipe says 'Lebanese 7 spice' or 'baharat': kafta and kibbeh, stews (yakhneh), stuffed vegetables, hashweh rice with vermicelli, shawarma and grilled chicken or lamb. About 1 teaspoon seasons 500g of minced meat.
How to use it
- Kafta & kibbeh – Mix 1 tsp into 500g minced lamb or beef with grated onion and parsley before shaping.
- Stews & rice – Add 1/2-1 tsp to yakhneh stews, hashweh (rice with mince and nuts) or plain vermicelli rice.
- Chicken & lamb – Rub onto chicken thighs or lamb chops with olive oil, lemon and garlic before grilling.
- Stuffed vegetables – Season the rice-and-mince filling for koussa (courgette), vine leaves and peppers.

Is this the same as baharat?
Yes - Lebanese 7 spice is the Levantine style of baharat: allspice-led with cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg, and no salt.
How much do I use?
About 1 teaspoon per 500g of meat or rice - it is aromatic, so start light and adjust.
Does it contain salt or MSG?
No - it is 100% ground spices with nothing added.
What allergens does it contain?
None of the 14 major allergens are listed in the ingredients; Abido's pack states it may contain traces of wheat (gluten), sesame and mustard.
