El Arosa Tea (Al Arosa, “the bride” – شاي العروسة) is the famous Egyptian black tea in the yellow and red pack – strong, dark and full of flavour, made from Kenyan black tea and packed in Egypt. This 250g pack is the granulated (khorz) loose tea Egyptians use for their everyday glass of tea.
Brew it strong and sweet the Egyptian way – with fresh mint (shai bel na’na’), or with milk (shai bel laban). Perfect after meals, for guests and for long chats. A 250g pack makes around 100–125 cups.
How to enjoy it
- How to brew – Use 1 heaped teaspoon per glass. Pour on freshly boiled water, cover and brew for 3–5 minutes, or simmer briefly in a small pot for an extra-strong cup.
- Egyptian mint tea – Add a few fresh mint leaves and sugar to taste – serve hot in small glasses.
- Tea with milk – Brew strong and top up with hot milk – a popular Egyptian breakfast drink.
