Madina Arabic Coffee Double Cardamom, Saffron & Cloves 200g

Madina Arabic Coffee – Double Cardamom, Saffron & Cloves is a lightly roasted, finely ground premium Arabic coffee, ready-blended with a double measure of cardamom, real saffron (zafaran) and a touch of cloves – the fully spiced, fragrant Saudi-style gahwa (qahwa) of the Gulf, served black in small finjan cups alongside dates. It is the boldest of the Madina Arabic coffees: if you like your qahwa rich in cardamom with the gentle warmth of cloves, this is the blend. Nothing to add – just brew and pour.

Brew a pot in a dallah or saucepan for guests, Ramadan iftar and suhoor, Eid, weddings and family gatherings, the majlis and everyday coffee breaks; serve with Madina dates, baklava or ma’amoul. A lighter, aromatic alternative to espresso or Turkish coffee. Each 200g pouch makes around 12–15 pots.

How to enjoy it

• Taste & aroma – Light, golden and highly fragrant – generous cardamom up front, the floral note of saffron and a warm finish of cloves. Much gentler than dark-roast coffee.
• How to brew – Bring about 500ml of water to the boil, stir in 2 tablespoons (around 15g) of coffee and simmer gently for 10–15 minutes. Take off the heat, let the grounds settle for a minute, then pour the coffee into a dallah or flask, leaving the grounds behind. The spices are already in the blend, so there is nothing to add – adjust the amount of coffee to taste.
• How to serve – Pour a little at a time into small finjan cups and serve with dates. Traditionally enjoyed black, without milk or sugar.
• Great for – Guests and hospitality, Ramadan, Eid, weddings and gatherings, the majlis, Arabic restaurants, cafés and shisha lounges, and as a gift with dates.

How is this different from the Saffron & Cardamom blend?

This blend has a double measure of cardamom plus cloves as well as saffron, so it is bolder and more aromatic. The Saffron & Cardamom blend is lighter on spice, and the Plain blend has no spices at all.

Do I need to add cardamom or saffron?

No – the cardamom, saffron and cloves are already ground into the coffee. Just brew and serve.

How much coffee do I use?

About 2 tablespoons (15g) per 500ml of water, simmered for 10–15 minutes – adjust to taste. A 200g pouch makes around 12–15 pots.

Is it the same as Turkish coffee?

No – Saudi-style Arabic coffee is lightly roasted, simmered and poured off the grounds, giving a lighter, golden brew. Turkish coffee is darker roasted and served with the grounds in the cup.

Does it contain caffeine?

Yes – it is made from coffee and contains caffeine.

What allergens does it contain?

None of the 14 major allergens – the ingredients are coffee, cardamom, saffron and cloves. Always check the pack label.

How should I store it?

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, reseal the pouch tightly or transfer to an airtight container to keep the aroma fresh.
