Greenfields Sumac 75g

Greenfields Sumac (somaq) is a tangy, lemony, deep-red ground spice made from dried sumac berries – the classic Middle Eastern way to add bright, citrusy sourness without adding liquid. It is made with sumac and a little citric acid, with no added salt. Greenfields is a London-based herbs and spices brand that has supplied quality ingredients since 1982.

Sprinkle it over fattoush, onion salads, hummus, kebabs, grilled chicken and fish, rice and roasted vegetables, or mix it into dressings and homemade za’atar.

How to use it

• Fattoush & salads – Sprinkle 1–2 teaspoons over the salad with olive oil and lemon.
• Sumac onions – Toss thinly sliced red onion with sumac, parsley and a pinch of salt – perfect with kebabs.
• Roast chicken (musakhan-style) – Rub chicken with olive oil, sumac and sliced onion before roasting.
