About this product
Abido Original Mixed Thyme is classic Lebanese za'atar: ground wild thyme with toasted sesame, sumac and salt - the tangy, nutty, herbal mix for manakish, labneh, olive-oil dipping and roasted chicken. This is Abido's original recipe in a generous 500g bag. Abido Spices has been Lebanon's best-known spice house since 1950 - still family-run, grinding and blending at its own ISO 22000-certified factory in Naameh, just south of Beirut.
Mix with olive oil for man'oushe or a zeit-w-zaatar dip; sprinkle over labneh, eggs, salad, grilled halloumi or potatoes; rub onto chicken. 500g keeps a za'atar-loving household going for months.
How to use it
- Manakish / man'oushe – Mix 4 tbsp za'atar with 4 tbsp olive oil, spread on flatbread dough, bake at 230C for 8 minutes.
- Zeit w zaatar dip – Dip warm bread in olive oil, then in za'atar - the Lebanese breakfast.
- Labneh, eggs & salads – Sprinkle over labneh, fried eggs, avocado, tomato and cucumber.
- Chicken & vegetables – Rub with oil and lemon onto chicken thighs, or toss with potatoes and cauliflower before roasting.

Is this the red or green za'atar?
This is Abido's Original mixed thyme - the classic green Lebanese style with sesame and sumac (not the red Jordanian style).
What allergens does it contain?
SESAME and WHEAT (gluten) are ingredients. Abido also states it may contain traces of mustard.
How much for manakish?
Equal parts za'atar and olive oil - about 4 tablespoons of each for 4 flatbreads.
How should I store 500g?
Reseal the bag or decant into airtight jars; keep cool, dry and out of sunlight.
