Al’Ard Palestinian Dried Sage (Meramieh) is 100% dried sage leaves from the hills of Palestine – hand-harvested, sun-dried and sifted so the pouch is mostly whole, aromatic leaves. Al’Ard describes Palestinian sage as the Mediterranean Salvia fruticosa variety, with a smoother, less bitter flavour and a herbal-sweet, pine-like aroma compared with common garden sage.
Steep a few leaves in hot water for traditional Palestinian sage tea, or add a leaf or two to a pot of black tea (shay bil maramiya). It also flavours stews, soups and broths.

How to make sage tea
- Sage tea – Pour about 250ml of just-boiled water over 3–5 leaves. Leave for 3–5 minutes, then strain. Sweeten with sugar or honey if you like.
- With black tea – Add 2–3 leaves to the teapot or cup while your black tea brews – the classic Palestinian way.
- Cooking – Add a leaf or two to stews, soups and broths while they simmer.

The Arabic name for sage (also written maramia or maramiya). In Palestine it is a favourite added to tea.

Mostly whole dried leaves, sifted to cut down on stems.
How much should I use?
A few leaves per cup is plenty – dried sage is very aromatic.
