Madina Ajwa Seed Powder from Madina Dates is finely ground seeds of Ajwa dates – the famous soft, dark date variety of Al-Madinah, treasured across the Muslim world. Choose Plain – 100% ground Ajwa date seeds, nothing added – or one of three blends: Black Seed (Ajwa seed powder with black seed, also known as Nigella sativa, kalonji or habbatus sauda), Cardamom & Black Seed, or Cardamom, Cloves & Black Seed.

Enjoy it by the spoon stirred into warm water, milk or honey; add it to smoothies, yoghurt, porridge and energy balls; or brew it like coffee for a naturally caffeine-free date seed drink. Each 200g pouch gives around 40–65 servings of 3–5g.

How to enjoy it

• Taste – Plain: earthy, nutty and lightly bitter. Black Seed: the same base with the peppery note of black seed. Cardamom & Black Seed: warm and fragrant. Cardamom, Cloves & Black Seed: the fullest spiced blend, with cloves alongside the cardamom and black seed.
• By the spoon – Stir 1 teaspoon (3–5g) into a glass of warm water or milk, or mix with a spoonful of honey. Adjust to taste.
• As date seed coffee – Simmer 1–2 heaped teaspoons per cup in water for 5–10 minutes, let it settle, then pour off or strain. Add milk, honey or date syrup to taste.
• In food – Blend into smoothies, stir into yoghurt or porridge, or add to energy balls, cookies and cakes.
• Great for – Ramadan and suhoor, everyday use, and as a thoughtful gift with Ajwa dates.

Which blend should I choose?

Plain is 100% ground Ajwa date seeds, nothing added. Black Seed adds black seed (kalonji) for a peppery note; Cardamom & Black Seed adds cardamom as well for a warm, fragrant cup; Cardamom, Cloves & Black Seed is the fullest blend, with cloves too.

What is black seed?

Black seed is Nigella sativa – small black seeds also known as kalonji, nigella seed, black cumin, habbatus sauda or habbat al-barakah, used widely in Middle Eastern and South Asian cooking.

How do I use it?

Stir a teaspoon into warm water, milk or honey, add it to smoothies, yoghurt or porridge, or simmer 1–2 teaspoons per cup in water for 5–10 minutes and strain for a caffeine-free date seed drink.

Does it contain caffeine?

No – date seeds are naturally caffeine-free.
