Basra Date Syrup is a rich, dark syrup made from the juice of dates – an Iraqi-style date syrup (dibs) made in the Netherlands since 1998. About 200g of dates go into every 100g of syrup.
Drizzle it over yoghurt, porridge, pancakes and waffles, mix it with tahini for a classic breakfast spread on bread or toast, use it to sweeten cakes and cookies, add it to dressings and marinades, or stir it into water with rose water for a jallab-style drink.
