Ways to use date paste
- Maamoul & ka’ak – Roll the paste into small balls or logs and wrap them in maamoul or ka’ak dough before shaping and baking.
- Date squares & bakes – Spread it between layers of oat crumble for date squares, or use it in cakes, muffins, flapjacks and tarts.
- Energy balls – Mix it with oats, ground nuts or seeds and cocoa, then roll into balls – the paste helps hold them together.
- Smoothies & breakfast – Blend a spoonful into smoothies and milkshakes, or stir it into porridge and yoghurt.
- Sauces & dressings – Whisk a little into dressings and marinades, or add it to stews and sauces that need a touch of sweetness.
- To soften – Knead it with a little soft butter or oil until smooth and easy to shape. For a softer, spreadable paste, work in a little warm water. Lightly oil your hands first – date paste is sticky.
